What could be a better venue to watch movies than a bar? From October 7-12 across Oakland, local watering halls will screen this year’s edition of the Drunken Film Festival. You are, the organizers insist, encouraged to get inebriated on films. There will be over 50 of them from solid documentaries to freakish shorts. Like one where a lonely man goes into a pet store and buys a miniature man in a cage. Another by a 12-year old Swedish auteur. How about a brief tour of screensaver hell? Winner takes home $2000. You watch for free.
